Although originally designed for exhaust bending the 2.5 inch tube bending machine from Unison is now proving its accuracy and versatility in the high demands of the aerospace industry.

Airbus A380

Airbus have to bend hundreds of different parts of stainless steel and titanium to a very high quality and accuracy standard. Existing machines need highly skilled operators and they can take over a day to set up a machine for complex parts and then only produce 10 to 15 parts a day. After bending they still have to ‘tweek’ the parts to fit the jigs. The new Airbus 380 will be creating extra production and of larger diameters than previous.


To supply a 65mm Breeze All Electric Tube Bending Machine capable of bending the wing hydraulic tubes for the Airbus 320 range and the new Airbus 380.

Once the first off parts were made on the different material specifications and the machine settings stored on the computer this enabled the full range of different parts to be made without machine set up time. It is only necessary to change the tooling, production can now be done by unskilled operators. An ITP measuring system linked to the bender measures the first part and compares it against the master shape, the next part fits the jig.
